Dream from the mailbag:

So I’ve had some really strange, recurring dreams my whole life. I suffer from sleep paralysis and it makes dreams that much more intense when you know you’re asleep.

I commonly have dreams where I am stranded, or abandoned, but not so far away from the house I grew up in. I usually always make it there and when I do, it’s like I live the life I live now, but in this home from the past. There is always a theme of trying to do something in a short amount of time, but always running late and having extreme anxiety about it. Also, the terrain outside of the home has changed. instead of it being in a neighborhood, there are huge buildings around and fences around the area, like we’re fenced in. I’ve also noticed that there are people in uniform sometimes standing around….they don’t give me the sense of fear, but like…protection. Though I often feel like they’re protecting me from something not that scary. When I realize I’m sleeping (usually I just “wake up”) I try to talk to people and they refuse to talk to me…or they give vague, hard to interpret answers. Like I asked one lady where she was from and she said “the west has many things to offer”. ???. That was highly confusing. There is also a lot of water around all the time. I see ponds, oceans, lakes…even cups of water around the house that I seem to really focus on in dreams. I’ve seen spinning discs over and over again, and it’s usually someone throwing it at me. I have searched over and over for a meaning to this and cannot find anything. I know I mentioned earlier about fences surrounding the area but I didn’t mention the wall aspect. In most of these dreams, there is a HUGE wall on the outskirts of the area. There was one dream where me and a group of people were trying to leave the area and when we got to the wall, we somehow got through to the other side and NOTHING was there. It was just a huge empty field.

Not sure if you can really give an interpretation from that, but I’ve been told that themes and symbols are what you should look out for, I just don’t know what they mean…
I would appreciate it so much if you tried and I would love to hear someone else’s opinion on these dreams. Look forward to your interpretation!! Thanks!

Dream Decoded:

Evidently there is something going on subconsciously that is trying to be heard and it might be related to recurring themes in your life. And for the most part,  I think what you are describing is lucid dreaming. That is the vivid dreams that happen when you know you are dreaming. I have these sorts of dreams, too, and I completely relate to how bizarre  and baffling the use of words can be in dreamland. More on that later, for now let us jump right into the decoding:

I am stranded, or abandoned, but not so far away from the house I grew up in.

Do you feel like you are on your own? Frustrated, maybe with where you are in your life.  When you say “but not so far away from the house I grew up in”, I think of three layers of thought: 1. In this life you are living there is the feeling of distance between you and your family or the place where you live. You feel disconnected and alone perhaps so this emotion might be the trigger for these types of dreams.  2. There might be an even overarching theme that is spiritual with you in that you are expressing your souls emotions of living an earthly life. And the house might represent what we call the afterlife or spirit life. The wanting to return to home. Not to say that you want to die, this is more about the feeling of completeness and the feeling of being taking care of and protected, another theme in your dreams. or 3. You feel grow up, maybe forcibly independent but you aren’t very old and you feel like you have responsibilities of someone older.

I usually always make it there and when I do, it’s like I live the life I live now, but in this home from the past.

So, you are repeating a pattern and/or cycle in your life and you are recognizing it. Also, you are reassuring yourself that whenever you feel abandoned or stranded that you will usually always make it back to a place of security. But there is also frustration because you don’t feel like you are progressing perhaps due to the repetition.

There is always a theme of trying to do something in a short amount of time, but always running late and having extreme anxiety about it.

Sounds like a part of your personality is being expressed. Do you put too much pressure on yourself to get too much done and then are behind or fear that you are. Working yourself up about it. If you are doing this unconsciously, and the pattern of behavior is repeating, the subconsciousness might be bubbling up the idea for you to get a hold of so you can stop doing it.

My first ideas were that you live on a military base or a gated community or college campus; this could represent feelings that you have about your current environment, living or working situation. Perhaps even political thoughts or passionate ideas about how you view the good ‘ol USA and the environment of the country. Point is, think about how this might relate to how you feel about the climate and circumstances in your life now. First thing that pops in is usually it. Ponder for a bit.

When I realize I’m sleeping (usually I just “wake up”) I try to talk to people and they refuse to talk to me…or they give vague, hard to interpret answers. Like I asked one lady where she was from and she said “the west has many things to offer”. ???.

This is a very common aspect of lucid dreaming. When we are lucid, we know we are dreaming and although everything feels normal in the dream, there are hallmarks of dreamland all around us, like the cryptic talking. I once asked a dream character “what is this all about” trying to get him to decode my dream for me to which he replies, “the man”. Makes no sense, right? This could be something you heard throughout the day being parroted back to you, or it could mean that there is something westerly that might be worth consideration. Lucid dreaming is a different kind of dreaming because it makes use of our conscious faculties and allows us to co-create our dream. I suspect it is also a tool to ensure we remember as much of what is being shown as possible. It is hard to wake up and forget a lucid dream. They stick with you like no other. It can also take more time to uncover meaning, so this one is still somewhat of a mystery to me.

There is also a lot of water around all the time. I see ponds, oceans, lakes…even cups of water around the house that I seem to really focus on in dreams.

My wild guess is that you are a spiritual person; am I right? You think deep thoughts, might even practice some spiritual things… I say that because of other aspects of your dream but also because water is life and can be a symbol of life force energy. Also, sexual energy but it is the stream of energy that we are made of and that nourishes us. Water is refreshing, cleansing, powerful enough to cut through mountains, soft enough to drink. It can also represent creative energy and the flow of life. Water is basic, primary and a requirement for sustaining life.

I’ve seen spinning discs over and over again, and it’s usually someone throwing it at me.

I instantly chuckled a little when I read this line because I thought of the chakra system and you getting pinged with little ninja-star-like-disks of other people’s energy, flying at you out of their chakra’s. But also think about how other parts of your dreams point to repetition and cycles, spinning round and round, over and over.

In most of these dreams, there is a HUGE wall on the outskirts of the area. There was one dream where me and a group of people were trying to leave the area and when we got to the wall, we somehow got through to the other side and NOTHING was there. It was just a huge empty field.

I see walls as challenges or obstacles in our lives. How we perceive problems and thereby our ability to overcome them. The part of the dream you mentioned sounds to me like a fear being played out. A fear that you will go through all this trouble, get through this HUGE challenge and at the end of it you will just be left to go free. Sounds a little bit like college. And then back to the being abandoned only really you are free to move in any direction you want. The huge empty field could be looked at in many ways, it might be seen as empty, worthless and without value, or it could be seen as ripe and ready for someone to build something out of. Farm something, build a house, make something new. The field is open, there are no fences or walls there is only wide open spaces. And you aren’t alone plus you are not so far away from home.

All in all, I think your dreams are expressing feelings you have about different aspects of your life. I think that you are telling yourself to chill out and not to work too hard or take on too much and then unnecessarily stress yourself out. Not to worry about feeling alone because, like everything else, it will pass. That your problems are a part of the cycle and repeating things are sometimes part of the process. If you hold your own vibration solid, you don’t have to worry about other people’s energy; you can observe it without absorbing it. And that you will be able to overcome that large challenge in your life, but expect the result it to be different then you expected.

I hope this helps!

Do you have a dream you want decoded? Go ahead and send us your dream. I dare you!

Wow quite an interpretation. Mostly everything you got from the dream is true with the exception of living on a military base/college campus and me being spiritual. I WAS spiritual but no longer. Perhaps I could use some. I also attribute the people in uniform and fence thing as a reflection of my paranoia lol but other than those two things, pretty much everything else made complete sense!! Thanks so much!! Also, I think the chakra thing makes a lot of sense….and the spinning and repetitiveness (is that a word?) theme! Truth is, I am stuck in a rut and I do feel like life has become stagnant. Thanks for your time it actually has helped!!
