Dream from the mailbag:

Good day, I just saw your blog. I’ve been searching the net every time I dream of something important. Now, I’m glad I found your blog.

My grandma passed away year 2004, and there are times that I dream of her. One of my dreams about her after she died, that I still remember was she left me along the way. I know the place where we are walking and the road is upward. I felt sad because she left me without words.

I had many dreams about her but recently (October) I dreamt of her again. We are sleeping together (grandma and me) and my newborn baby is on her own bed. Later on, I saw my baby in between my legs and someone is trying to get her. My baby is holding my left leg so tight and crying. At that time, I couldn’t breathe anymore. I wanted to wake up but I couldn’t. It was also hard for me to move. Then I asked my grandma to help me, I was crying for her help (she was just beside me). Then, she told me to pray, so we prayed Hail Mary together and I got up. There’s still some details that happened but I forgot already.

One more dream about my grandma last October: I saw her dead body in a coffin. Then, I saw her head was on my lap and when she opened her eyes she told me she was just sick.

I still have a lot of dreams to tell you, most of them leads me to not moving my body, can hardly breathe and when I shout for help, no words are coming out. When I was still living with my parents, I dreamt of seeing myself dreaming and in that dream, myself is also dreaming. This is weird, I hope you can help me with this. That time my mom heard something from me while dreaming and in the middle of the night she brought me to the hospital because when I managed to get up I also couldn’t breathe well.

Dream Decoded:

My grandma passed away year 2004, and there are times that I dream of her. One of my dreams about her after she died, that I still remember was she left me along the way. I know the place where we are walking and the road is upward. I felt sad because she left me without words.

I am sorry to hear of the loss of your grandma but so glad to hear that you seem to still be ‘in touch’. Before I begin my interpretation, I feel it proper to mention that some of my theories about dreaming and spirit visitation are influenced by the works of Michael Newton. In particular, Destiny of Souls says this on page 34:

My professional experience with dreams stems from listening to subjects in hypnosis explain how—as discarnates*—they use the dream state to reach the living. Spirits are very selective in their use of our dream sequences.

Mr. Newton goes on to explain that some times a person we love can return to us when we are in the receptive dreaming state to share information that we need or want. I fall into the group that believes this sort of thing is possible and does happen. Not just because I read a book about it, but because I have personal experience with it as well. I have dreamed of my grandma also and these dreams have brought be comfort in times when I needed it most.

Allowing for the possibility that your grandma did indeed visit you then sounds to me she made a few ideas clear for you:

…she left me along the way…we are walking and the road is upward.

In a simplistic way, does this describe how you feel about loosing your grandma? She left you while you are starting to move upward… see where I’m going with this?

We are sleeping together (grandma and me) and my newborn baby is on her own bed.

Perhaps the idea that you two are sleeping together represents that she is with you for this experience being explained in this dream.  Babies are a very common symbol in dreams and typically represent a new responsibility, job, project or something that you feel the need to parent.

Later on, I saw my baby in between my legs and someone is trying to get her. My baby is holding my left leg so tight and crying. At that time, I couldn’t breathe anymore. I wanted to wake up but I couldn’t. It was also hard for me to move.

My ideas about this symbolism is that it reflects some scenario playing out in your life. Sounds like you were struggling pretty desperately at one point. There was a fear that someone was trying to take something important away from you. I wonder if your inability to breathe is representing how physically overwhelming this situation was or is. Desperation for it to all be over (waking up) and the wanting to move but seeing this as too hard to do.

Then I asked my grandma to help me, I was crying for her help (she was just beside me). Then, she told me to pray, so we prayed Hail Mary together and I got up. There’s still some details that happened but I forgot already.

Did you ask for your grandma’s help in waking life about this situation? If so, perhaps this was how she was able to answer you. She told you to pray. Quite simply, when you feel powerless and breathless, all you need to do is pray. Find some peace and stillness in your heart and ask for help. When you were crying, she was right beside you, even if you didn’t know it, so remember also, she is always with you.

I saw her dead body in a coffin. Then, I saw her head was on my lap and when she opened her eyes she told me she was just sick.

Might you have been wondering about death? Wondering perhaps, if dead means gone. This sounds to me like she was telling you that she is still alive. The idea I get here is like she was sick and perhaps that lead her to death, but that death is not the end. Her eyes are still open and she still has her head.

I still have a lot of dreams to tell you, most of them leads me to not moving my body, can hardly breathe and when I shout for help, no words are coming out.

The recurrent theme of paralysis, hard to breath and not being able to shout could be expressing how you sometimes react in stressful situations. Do you find it hard to move or breathe and also have a difficult time expressing your self or your own needs. You see you need help but perhaps aren’t able to ask for it.

When I was still living with my parents, I dreamt of seeing myself dreaming and in that dream, myself is also dreaming…That time my mom heard something from me while dreaming and in the middle of the night she brought me to the hospital because when I managed to get up I also couldn’t breathe well.

The dream of dreaming about dreaming might be what Michael Newton refers to as a Spiritual dream, one where larger lessons about life experience are being offered. The concept or idea that one is asleep in life or that life itself is a dream…perhaps you were taking notice of your life in a new way or your dreams and this was some sort of expression of understanding. Ponder how difficulty breathing relates to your life.

All in all, I think your dreams are visits from your grandma who is lovingly whispering words of encouragement to you. I feel as though she was there when you were going through a difficult situation and she was offering her support and advice of using prayer when you feel overwhelmed or out of control. She is alive and well, just in a different form now (at least that is how I see it) but still with you when you need her and watching over you from her point of view.

For a little more information on spiritual dreams, I leave you with some more ideas from Destiny of Souls and Mr. Micheal Newton:

Spiritual dreams involve our guides, teaching souls and soul mates who come as messengers to assist us with solutions. We do not need to be grieving to receive help in this way. Into this spiritual dream mixture we also have memory recall of our experiences on other physical and mental worlds, including the spirit world. How many of you have dreamed you could fly or swim easily underwater? I have found with some clients that these mythic memories contain information about the lives they led as intelligent flying or water creatures on other planet. Frequently, these kinds of dream sequences provide us with metaphoric clues which open the door to comparisons of former lives with our current one. Our immortal soul character does not change much between host bodies, so these comparisons are not all that bizarre. Some of our greatest revelations come from the episodic dreams of events, places and behavior patterns emanating from experiences before we acquired our present body.

I hope this helps!

*discarnates are souls; those who are currently not incarnate at this time; Non-physical beings.
