Dreaming of being shot at

Dreams Decoded here. Post your dream and I will do my best to help you understand what your subconscious is trying to tell you. Go ahead and post your dream, I dare you..

Dream from the mailbag:

I had a dream last night that my home town was a war zone.

My dad, me and another person were lined up in my sitting room, against the wall and there was a gunman pointing a gun at us…. He shot but nobody died, then I was running away through long grass and me and someone else entered this old mans house. He had only one room in the house with a chair and a tv. Everything had been robbed from him.

Then I left this house and two Pakistan boys were throwing bombs at me. I managed to dodge the bombs. I could see there were gun men on top of the roofs shooting down.

Then I remember being told that the war was over…

Strange!! Thanks.

Dreaming of Being a Post-apocalyptic Refugee on the Moon

Dreams Decoded here. Post your dream and I will do my best to help you understand what your subconscious is trying to tell you. Go ahead and post your dream, I dare you..

Dream from the mailbag:

A dream I had 8/23/05 when I was in college. Edited for grammar and flow/clarity, but dream events have not been changed.

The scene opens to a bunch of people and myself standing on “the moon.” I say the moon, but I don’t mean white rocks & craters–I mean, there were rocks and craters, but we weren’t standing directly on them. We were standing on some sort of ebony balcony-looking structure. It wasn’t that elevated off the ground, but we were penned in. If you played the video game Chrono Trigger, it looked like the End of Time location. From where I was standing, I could see that the moon had no sky. I know this because I could see the earth from where I was and I felt a weird longing feeling for it. I could also see the rest of outer space. It’s mostly black with whiteness scattered all around. I also felt this incredible vastness that encompassed the moon, the earth, and everything else in the universe. I could literally feel it. I remember there was more than one level to the balcony structure, because I had to go down a level to talk to some of the people. They were all strangers to me. I did not know one familiar face.

Immediately I took in the fact that we arrived here because there was a nuclear war that destroyed most of the earth. My dream started right after the world’s population was shipped to the moon. So the balcony’s all crowded. Think of, I dunno, the crowdedness of the rafts people got on when they had to evacuate the Titanic. It was like this, but on a larger scale. I remember everyone wore dark old-style (1930s? something like that) clothing.

The prime concern at the moment where my dream opens was that we had no food. Everyone became suspicious of one another. We knew we had to locate some food on the moon, but as far as we could tell, there was none. There was that dog-eat-dog thing going on. I remember everyone was looking at each other shifty-eyed. I felt like i could tell some people were plotting to kill the people next to them to eliminate the competition. There was tension in the air.

The earth didn’t look totally obliterated. Some backstory flooded my head and I became aware that only the majority of cities were destroyed, it’s not like everything was gone. There were ruins, and apparently some parts of the earth were still inhabited by people who chose to stay.

The tension was escalating and people were getting hungrier. Then someone suggested we make a trip back to the earth to get some food. (I don’t understand why they would assume that there was food there, but whatever) so we went.

In the next scene, everyone’s at “the UCLA ruins.” It was weird, because people were flying around (literally flying) in a giddy mood like it was paradise. Irony. All the buildings were in a shambles. Everything was unhinged and scattered and torn apart.

I found a house amidst the ruins. It was lopsided & cottage/hut-looking. For some reason I thought of hobbit’s houses.. I guess it was something like that. I went inside because I guess I wanted the full story about the nuclear war and how we came to find refuge on the moon (since my dream had opened up after the fact).

I go in and there’s a little bald man with glasses at some old fashioned wooden table. I start inquiring about the war that caused the ruin of the world. He claims he doesn’t know what the hell I’m talking about. What war? he says. For a split second I feel like I imagined the whole thing because he acts like the information is preposterous.

Then i notice a sign on the table with his name on it. By some weird phenomenon, I am able to deduce that this name-tag of sorts somehow reveals that he was a UCLA physics professor, & thus, he knows more about the nuclear war than he’s letting on! So i tell him this. I accuse him of withholding information from me. He relents and tells me the back-story of the war.

Everything gets hazy, and I am unable to recall what he told me.
